At Martins Wood School we offer a wide range of clubs to appeal to all children in addition to training sessions for school teams. These are organised by school staff and outside providers.
The clubs we offer vary throughout the year but, as a guide, across the last couple of years clubs have included: drama, chess, art, code club (computer programming), orchestra, lego, percussion, pottery, science and film club. There are also a number of sports clubs and activities which, across the past year, has included athletics, dance, football, netball, rugby, table-tennis, hockey, gymnastics, cricket, basketball, fitness, archery, fencing and maypole dancing.
Older children may get the opportunity to represent the school in matches, tournaments and local leagues against other primary schools in the area.
Parents may also opt for their child to learn to play a musical instrument at a small additional cost. Currently we have specialist instrumental teaching (provided through our partnership with Hertfordshire Music Service) available in Flute, Clarinet, Violin, Cello, Ukulele, Guitar and Percussion (currently drum kit, djembe and steel pans).
We also make our ICT Suite available to families weekly for Bug Club or other online learning activities (see home learning section) and run a branch of the Stevenage Credit Union each week.
Martins Wood is also an official 'learning destination' for the Children's University. Please follow this link to find out more.
