The school is organised into four phases – Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage One, Lower Key Stage Two and Upper Key Stage Two. Typically consisting of six well-resourced classrooms, a larger breakout room (which we call 'hubs') and some small teaching rooms, children in each phase also have access to a playground which is only used by pupils in that department equipped with climbing apparatus and seating.
In addition to our four playgrounds pupils at Martins Wood have access to a large playing field which also includes an area for nature and environmental studies, the Breathing Space. This was funded with the support of a lottery grant.
The shared facilities, such as halls, libraries and IT suites, are all in the centre of the building and so easily accessible to all year groups. Our Hall and Studio can be combined to make a very large internal space for school functions and special occasions. The Community Room, located next to the main entrance, provides a venue for our breakfast and after school club and is often used for other meetings or events for parents.
